Hello - I posted a message a few months ago asking for advice on buying a new camera, especially for macro photography. I wanted something lightweight due to problems with my hands. After much research, I decided on the Fujifilm XT3 along with the 18-55mm kit lens, 23mm f2, and a 60mm f2.4 macro lens.

Yesterday was my rose society's annual show. I only bought the camera three weeks ago and I was hoping to learn enough to get a decent pic that I could enter in the photo exhibition part of the rose show, something I've never done before. I was shocked but very happy to win the overall best photo for a rose called Mitsouko. Although I did well with the roses I exhibited, I was most happy with the photo award.

Its a lovely shot. Would you mind sharing the info on which lens you used and the settings? Did you have to do any post processing?

The lighting is very nice, no glare yet well lit. Well done.

Thanks honeyx4!

I had only owned the camera for about 6 days when I took the pic so I was lucky to get anything decent. I used a 23mm, f2 lens but my Fujifilm X-T3 is not a full frame camera. I believe the equivalent focal length would be longer on a full frame if you have one. The photo data says the settings were 160 ISO, 1/680 shutter speed, with a 3.2 aperture. I'm embarrassed to say that I had originally set the ISO to auto but apparently didn't lock the dial which resulted in it moving to 160, the lowest setting. The shutter speed was locked at A however. I elected manual control on the aperture and auto focus was on. My camera has an exposure compensation dial which I must have used to get the 3.2 setting. The photo was taken at about 8am and the sun was coming up on the left side of the rose. I was lucky that the light hit the rose at just the right angle to give it that glow on the left.

Hope that helps!
