As a comment about Elderberry (Sambucus racemosa Lemony Lace™), NHJenDion wrote:

I ordered this in 2017, and was disappointed to get a tiny 4" pot (for like $20), but potted it up in a 3-4 gallon pot and have been heeling it in for the last 2 winters (in zn. 5). It's now about 2' tall or more and going to flower for the first time this year.

I haven't decided if I'll put it in a bigger pot and plant that in its final location or if I'll take my chances with the suckers. I do have a pair of sharp pruners :)

I have so much better luck with shrubs if I get them in the ground. Especially if it's going to flower this year. Just my experience.
