Thread OP

I have over 100 houseplants and have dealt with a variety of pests but these small white crawling insects are seemingly invincible! I've been spraying my monstera plants weekly for months to try and stop the reoccurring appearance of this white nymph looking bugs. Now they are slowly infecting several of my plants - I have used insecticide soap and neem oil - I check the plants regularly - multiple times a week- to address new sighting should early. I don't know what they are- I thought they were scale nymphs but I have not seen a single scale bug on any of the infected plants - they sort of look like white flies but none of them are flying ! What are they?! How do I kill them?!

They look like immature scale and they can be persistent. On the main stems, do you see round reddish-brown or black hard circles?

Gene has a good suggestion! Another option is to try a spray bottle with half water, half alcohol and a drop or two of dish soap. Spray it all over the plant, every leaf (top and underneath), every nook and cranny. Repeat in 4 days, then in another 4-7 days. The water-alcohol method is probably a little slower. Depends on your patience/preference.

If you can, get the plants that have the insects away from the others (don't let them touch) because that will slow down the spread of these buggers.

They do look like whitefly. Very difficult to treat unless you do repeat treatments as they have different stages of development when they are more or less vulnerable. Whatever you use to spray, be sure to spray all leaf and stem surfaces until they are dripping wet.

Thanks all- I appreciate the input. I have very thoroughly checked all of my plants and literally can't find a single scale bug- but the little larvae look most similar to immature scale in the images I can find. I've attached a video of a leaf input in a plastic bag to show- I have been treating any plant I find with the insects with both insecticide soap and been oil- they have all had multiple treatments- I also used Bonaide system granuals about 2 weeks who in every plant I own to try and kill/prevent spreading. This was one of the plants today! It's received multiple need oil soap sprays and look how many crawlers there are! Gah! I've sprayed again today - am hoping the Bonaide maybe hasn't kicked in yet?

It could be white flies- I've never had those so not really sure what I'm looking for but I will say I have never seen anything flying. Maybe I'm killing them before maturity but not sure how the larvae would be ongoing then. This is so frustrating ! I have also wiped the plants with alcohol.
