I was trying to figure out what plant this is, as I wanted to give it the best care possible, I am kind of a newbie, so wanted to do some research. I think it may be a philodendron, but not quite sure. Are you able to advise?

Looks like one to me. I'm unsure of the cultivar though.

I agree. Some sort of young philo. May have to get some growth on it in order to determine the type. If there is/was any kind of label on the pot that has the grower name, you may be able to go to their site and see if they might list the plant varieties they grow.
