Today while pulling weeds in my Daylily beds I noticed this guy. Is there such a thing as variegated oak tree?
It's only about 5 inches tall and I have it marked so that I won't be tempted to remove it by accident later. Has anyone ever seen this before?

Hi Nancy.

I believe you can have variegated varieties of any plant. Sometimes they lose their variegation when exposed to more sunlight.

It's pretty!! Lovey dubby
Moving from New York to the Treasure Coast leaves me feeling like a newbie in the Garden. Nevermind that I've been at it for 35 years! :P

I agree

I should take a picture of my variegated maple...

It sent out green shoots one year... Those got clipped!

Those variegated specimens are some slow growers, and losing the leaves in the winter means needing to have the tree well marked to prevent accidental "weeding".

Thanks for the encouragement and great advice. I have learned the hard way about making markers. I am more careful now.

Did you ever grow it to see if it was actually variegated? I found one today and I think it's genetically variegated so I'm pumped to grow it! I've seen blanched plants due to environmental reasons but this one was found in my clients neighbors garden. I own a landscaping company and own bonsai so I'm pumped only found a few grasses naturally variegated but was working so I didn't have a chance to properly transplant it. But now
