I have forgotten when they start to bloom! Is this a late year; haven't seen any buds yet?

I'm in 4a and I would say they are late here but it would also depend on what daylilies you have (i.e. their typical bloom time in relation to each other, e.g. EE, E, M etc.). I have scapes with buds here on Hemerocallis minor, H. lilioaphodelus and 'Flavina' that I've noticed so far. Some years lilioasphodelus (syn. flava) would be in bloom by now.

I'm also zone 4, and H. lilioaphodelus just gave me her first bloom last night. Around here it usually blooms in the second or third week in April. Happy Returns and Stella are finally scaping now, they usually bloom end of April. Things are very late in my neck of the woods. I'm assuming all of my EE and E's will start blooming with my EM. Hopefully anyway. Confused

Looking at my pics from last year looks like starting in the first week of July to late July.

Middendorffii opened on 6/8 this year. Records from 2008 to 2018 show FFO range of 5/28 to 6/3. So it's running a week later than normal.Typically I see bloom on a scape around 3 weeks after I see the tip coming out of the fans. I'm not seeing any scapes on anything else yet.

I just found a loaded scape on 'moonlit masquerade', which is registered as a EM. So it will probably start blooming with 'Happy Returns', an EE. Go figure. The weather has been nuts. Shrug!

Just noticed a few a mine sending up scapes today.

I saw a bright orange daylily in full bloom in a village I drove through today not far from where I live. I don't know the name of it, it has fairly large flowers, but I've seen it in flower early in the past.

I have scapes on Hemerocallis minor and blooms on them appeared today. There are also scapes on three pots of some (misidentified) Hemerocallis species.

I just double checked the daylilies in the field. I have scapes on 'Stella de Oro' and 'Bitsy'. I also have scapes on 'Saratoga Springtime'. When I looked deep into the centre of 'Heavenly Harmony' (HH) I saw that it also has scapes almost ready to elongate and become visible. Scapes usually are up and visible on HH in the first week in June so they are at least one week late this year.
