Is it just me, in Ontario Canada? My fall flowers are already starting to bloom while my poppies are lagging. Nothing seems to be blooming in the expected order. This is the second strange bloom year for me. My apple trees skipped blossoming, entirely, so, will have no apples this year and my rhubarb just died out.

Probably due to the waffy weather we've all been having. Too much rain, so not enough sun and cooler than normal temps can all have an effect on plants. A lot of my perennials all bloomed at once instead of the stagger they usually have. And my roses are way behind in blooming.

I would say my gardens are a month behind because of all the rain and low temps. Only things growing like crazy are the weeds.

I've got some different bloom times than last year and lost some tough plants. Mostly things are blooming in the right order.

With the cold snaps and rain though, your fall bloomers thinking it's time and warm weather plants not knowing it's time sure seems possible.

This is climate change. When it affects your garden it's a nuisance, when it affects food crops it will be a disaster.

@henderman - it's affecting our food crops this year (for the first time in my gardening life).

The experts said we had 60, 80, 100 years until things got bad. It looks like they were wrong.

My apples are a "Food Crop" for me, I generally grow enough on my 2 trees to last through winter by freezing, canning and my favourite, apple butter. I also grow enough tomatoes, herbs, beans and various greens to last the year. It is early in my vegetable season but I do hope the food stuffs thrive! (Except rhubarb & Apples, I know I'm out of luck on those for this year. Crying )

We have had wetter, colder and drier years, far, far worse than this.
