Not many labels on the roses at Lilburn Tower but I really liked this one on on the steps. Can anyone hazard an ID?

Could it be Gertrude Jekyll?

No, I know Gertrude Jekyll well and it's an intense pink. This one has a different flower shape.

It looks like a climbing rose.

Whatever it is, it's gasp and swoon worthy!!! Holy cow!!! Maybe you should take a cutting??

@kniphofia Sue, from your photo, my first impression is a pink Tea rose. However, you might be seeing one of the early Austin's: I checked those that I have pics of and the closest that I got is English Elegance. It has darker central petals but isn't that full like most of the later DAs. Here at the dbase it is presented as apricot or apricot pink though even in HMF is says orange yellow but photos show a rose much pinker and closer to your picture.

Two other candidates could be Wild Eve and Emanuel. None of these mentioned grow in my yard so its by solely image comparison.
I tried a search in HMF and I spotted a tea that perhaps fits to your pic:'Madame Abel Chatenay'

Perhaps when you e mail the owners you could ask about when it was planted and if by chance they knew its provenance in case that they haven't kept its name....of course I'm now the one that is mooost curious . You can also add that it has gotten people from all over the world curious about it... ...perhaps its an contributing incentive to solve the mystery. Your picture does great honor to it and although it may seem just one other pink rose, it is distinctly different. for having spotted it.

Interesting. On the GW someone thought their rose WAS B#2, but ended up being Banshee. Thanks for the info!

Sue Thank you so much! I'm very excited since it may one day end up in my yard! This is one of the OGRs( introduced 1834) that can be found here! I've been after it for at least three seasons still with no luck. It is a climber, and a hybrid bourbon ( not a tea) but it has the same ancestry as the teas ( both have chinas in their lineages). It is also a very interesting way of growing a climber as a ground cover on a slope. My for having spotted it. Also for having uploaded its photo here in the dbase and in that of HMF.
