Does anyone know who might be selling these plants, who has a California certificate? I thought Burling might but I don't see them listed on the old HMF list that she grows these. I can email her and see. Gosh, I thought I saw String of Pearls available somewhere but am not seeing that anyone sells it now. I also see that supposedly Grace Farms is supposedly selling Crested Dawn, but their website only shows florist rose bouquets for sale and a sold out nursery tour ($100 but you get a nice vegan lunch and a bouquet of roses when done). Perhaps when they start selling potted roses again, their website will change. Anyone want to come and take a tour of my yard? I will only charge you $50 and I will also feed you too! I don't grow florist roses however, so your take home would be different. Sorry, I am sure the tour is spectacular and the food wonderful. I just have a little devil in my today. Whistling

It's always best to contact Burling and ask. She's great about replying.

Yes, she prefers to have you call her for her current list of roses available.

Just a suggestion ... don't call on Mondays ... that is shipping day ... Smiling
I'd rather weed than dust ... the weeds stay gone longer.

That's funny about the Grace Rose Farm tours because one of those Grace Rose Farm ladies asked if she could tour my garden and take cuttings of my roses and she didn't say anything about paying me, but she wouldn't have received a vegan meal here either. I practically live on yogurt, eggs, and cheese. Big Grin

Yes, I know that they have been taking cuttings from all over. I am sure they will eventually offer them for sale. I kind of have a problem with that. They get the cuttings for free and then charge everyone else for them. Yes, I understand they have a business to run in a very expensive location and they have costs regarding growing the plants. Still bothers me, however.

It depends on the prices they will be charging, I suppose. If the prices are astronomical, we'll know they aren't acting on purely altruistic motives and trying to keep rare roses from disappearing.

I once went to a local own-root rose nursery and got into a conversation with the owners. I mentioned that I had a huge climbing Cecile Brunner. They asked me to bring them five good-sized cuttings. They said if all five rooted well and grew into nice plants, they'd give me one of the plants for free in exchange. Glare I asked them why I wouldn't just stay at home and grow the five cuttings myself and keep all five of the plants for free. Did they really think that rooting rose cuttings was an art?

Really! What were they thinking? (They weren't!) If someone has as many roses as you, one would presume that the person knows something about roses and especially, how to root them from cuttings!

BTW--Grace Rose Farm charges $49.00 per plant and that was last year's prices. Who knows what it will be for 2020. They have 37 varieties that they sell. Some newer and some older. All were sold out last/this year.

Zuzu you could live here then. I make our yoghurt from our sheep's milk; you can pick eggs from our coop and eat our cheese that I also make. I mix drained yoghurt with cream,a tad of fine grained salt;. whip it a bit and lo something almost like Philadelphia cream cheese comes out of it. I suppose that most buisiness minded people forget that on the other side of the counter there's a person who also thinks, does DIY projects and comes up with as a good alternative than his, and therefore unwilling to dish out the contents of his wallet... Moondoggy, lunch would depend upon seasonal ingredients. I cook according to what is seasonally available for local fruits, veggies, cheeses and meat (have to support our local farmers). Then I would bake some of my award winning cookies for dessert. No coffee though. I don't drink the stuff and so therefore, you would have to bring your own if you wanted it. We do have a Starbuck's close by however (Is it a company mandate that they are on every street corner of the world?).
