I'd like to name and register this seedling and I'm looking for ideas. Would anyone like to suggest a name? Smiling

How about 'Tasman Rose'?

Thank You!

Thanks guys for the ideas. Taswoman Rose gave me a giggle nodding

Tasman Rose appeals, Coral, and tropical and punch and sunset and sunrise themes appeal... and flamingos I'm still floundering for the perfect name though!

I got it! 'Tazmanian Devil' from the Looney Tunes. Actually I think something like Taz sunset or Coral or something would be a great name. Then if you give it to someone or have it propogated for market, people will know it was from Tasmania.

If this is your first intro, you might want to think about giving this one and future ones the same type of name. Then it can always be traced to you as the breeder. For instance, Ian Young (not a Lilium breeder) starts all his with "Craigton". Examples: 'Craigton Blue', 'Craigton Cover Girl'. Or all the Lakeside hostas. I do like the Taz epithet, 'cause up here in the northern hemisphere, it's quite exotic. Not sure what it's like down there. Possibilities are endless, and I seriously doubt anyone has better imagination here than you, Della! Maybe an aboriginal name....

Do you have other monochrome lilies? Maybe you should have a series name and separate epithets to go with.....

Hmmm... maybe I should specialise in monochromes? Though I'd call the coral/flamingo/tropical punch lily a matt polychrome Sticking tongue out

I could start now with my own breeder's prefix. Not Taz though. Taz had no table manners! Did you guys know we were briefly called Van Dieman's Land? And Tasmanians... were Vandemonians. 'Vandemonia...' Muuuuch cooler. nodding Vandemonia's Coral Atoll ? That's a mouth full! Maybe I'm barking up the wrong tree. Rolling on the floor laughing I like 'Tasman' though. :)

Oh, Neil Jordan created the Tas Township series of davidii hybrids and gave them aboriginal names. Don't want to step on toes there!
