What is this plant please? in the Plant ID forum

Can anyone identify this plant please? It is growing at the side of the road in West Yorkshire. It is a very large bush and smells lovely. Thanks.

Looks like a European privet. They get HUGE!

Maybe we should get a second opinion...

It does look a lot like Common Privet (Ligustrum vulgare)

Looks like Ligustrum sp...common name Privet.

Much loved in UK for hedges.
Normally hedges are trimmed so you don't always see the pretty panicles of tiny 4 petal flowers.
Yes the flowers are very scented....but to me they smell of cats pee....hate the smell.
