Mine is small too! I'm going to move it to a better location see if that helps. I put it in the back of the flower bed thinking it would be 6 feet tall. I'll get pictures inThe morning.

Ghost ferns overtook this area so I had no choice but to dig (huge job for me) and replant elsewhere. They must be close to 20 years old.

They did say it was slow. I think I will move them to more sun. Mine is not even as big as when they were purchased.

My problem may be I was not sure where I wanted them so I planted them in my homemade compost and planted them in large pots for the winter and buried the pots in the Hosta garden.

The root balls were enormous, and so heavy. It took a day of digging to get three dug and replanted.

I bought one when they first came out . Mine stayed small for a few years and did not come back this year. Overall was not a good Winter for Ferns for me I think it was because of no real snowcover.

@NJBob, I do not know what is going on in my back yard. I have Japanese painted ferns coming up in pots that I left on the patio for the winter. Before I purchased the two godzilla last yr I only had one 20 yr old painted fern in the Hosta garden. I do not think that walked across the garden to the patio. I do have a lot of birds,

Today I counted 4 of them coming up in various pots. I wonder how this is happening.

There is a fern that I cannot identify coming up in the pot that I had a hardy Hibiscus in that did not come back but a fern is growing in that pot.

At the bottom of the sun garden in the back is a big patch of sensitive ferns. That is a fern I have never had. It is like a fern fairy hit my backyard and and dropped fern bombs. Rolling on the floor laughing

These are the ferns popping up after winter in empty pots left outside over the winter that I did not plant.

I did not plant any of these. The last monster sensitive ferns I have never owned one.

This one turned up in a broken pot I had in the throw away area
Thumb of 2020-06-13/Cinta/9bc544

and this huge patch plated it self in the grass. When I was mowing the grass early Spring I saw it and mowed around it and was going to dig it up later and I came back to dig it up 2 wks later and it has exploded,
