Alas , save for seedlings ive not bought anything but a dirt cheap Sedum sarmentosum( roughly 40 cents in usd) which is not much to look at. Dont even know what ill do with it...
I feel like planting it somewhere in the ground...but it has to be somewhere meaning full....

Ones before that are delosperma and the bulb...which youve already seen in the chat..
In case youre wondering why, summer tends to be a little dry on new cacti. I have some i liked but not enough to buy them.
Also, a you have a disocactus x hybridus, not a red dragon fruit...

Steve, They are a sport of Gold Hahnii. I have 3 so far. Keep looking. Some over grown plants that are over crowed seems to sport some of these. They are getting more common now. I wanted one for years myself then saw one on ebay last year as a pup on a Gold Hahnii so I purchased it and got just as pictured.

Later while traveling in Ohio, I stopped into a road side nursery and saw a bunch of very well grown 4" pots of Gold Hahnii and one with a Solid Gold pup! And they were selling for around $5 each. If my wife wasn't there, I would have bought all of them. Hilarious!

@ stush
Hilarious! I know what you mean about buying them all.
Its a rush isn't it when you just chance upon something you have been looking for ages at a bargain price . I was getting into hybrid aloes, but a lot of them are hard to find here in the UK. Especially the Karen Zimmerman hybrids. Then one day in my local garden centre , there they are... a bunch of aloes that look very close to a Zimmerman cultivar known as 'DZ'. They are marked up as 'franco /lime fizz' . So i buy two there and then and go back and get another a few days later. Anyway long story short is that its seems the two plants are one and the same. There is a US collectors who has bought both and grown them 'side by side' and they are the same plant. His theory is that someone in Europe must of tissue cultured dz . Shortly after similar or the same plant started popping up all over the place her in the UK. So I think the theory sounds about right.
So as you say wait it out for long enough and hopefully what you are looking for can often pop up.

There is always a chance of not getting anything ordered from overseas. Several years back I purchased some from Indonesia and long story short, customs took the plants and destroyed them sending me the empty box. Told PayPal about it and the supplier but never got nothing back. Total loss of $150. Could have been worse, I wanted to purchase much more.
Buying overseas is a crap shut. This guy sells on Ebay but I will never buy again, ever. Grumbling

Ive mentioned about my hassle with ordering live plants from giromagi..
Long story short, i paid 10X their worth, only to go around dealing with customs and phyto sanitary dep ending in most of them dead(the plants ). if youre buying live best look for them in person.

Good advise Stefan but not if you want that special rare plant. So many from China sells seeds of plants that are photo shopped and show super colorful plants that don't exist. Best you will get is common seeds or worse weed seeds. One super way to know is the super cheap price for a large number of seeds. Most from China is a rip off. 20 years ago, I purchased some rare seeds from a China grower and got them. Variegated Clivia for $1 a seed. They came inside a stuffed toy. Was told to look inside of toy. Almost every seed germinated. Never ever got that lucky again. It is just like gambling, Hit it big once and it hooks you to keep trying again and again. If you can find what your looking for at a garden center, What a great joy that is. Hurray!

@stush thats exactly what I thought could happen with ordering from Thailand on ebay, which is why I have been hesitant to go for it

@ stefan
thanks for the heads up about giromagi , i had been following auctions by them. I thought it might not be too difficult inside the EU, but it sounds like even that carries some risks
guys Thank You! for sharing your experiences
