I would have posted this in the Hellebore forum...But there isn't one :)
I have what I thought was H. Orientalis but I noticed it's leaves were purple when leafing out in spring (unlike all it's neighbors)... I was trying to figure out what variety it might be but I can't seem to find anything referencing purple new growth on hellebores. Is it so common that no one mentions it? Of the numerous plants I have in the garden only this one (with a solid purple-reddish flower) has this spring coloring on the foliage.
Anyone have any ideas what it might be?
Thanks for your help!!

I can always tell what color the flowers will be by the color of new foliage and stems. The darker the new leaves, the darker the flower.

Hummm...Interesting... I have Onyx Odyssey which is even darker, but I don't recall that it's leaves are purple like this one in the spring. I'll have to watch for that next spring.
Thanks so much!
