I'm just at the beginning of my Dahlia addiction, and would love to see more list by attribute. Color, Size, Good Keepers, etc...

I need more Oranges, show me yours. Add Height and bloom size if you can.

I'll start it off with an heirloom, "Andries' Orange" - Miniature (M): up to 4 inches in diam
Semi-Cactus

A flower arranger's delight 'Andries Orange', 1936
Simple yet extraordinary. A clear, orange with 3-4 inch, semi-cactus flowers on wiry stems, it's a flower arranger's delight. Its full Flemish name, 'Andries Oranje As', honors a Jazz Age liqueur from the small Belgian town of As. 3-5'

My favorite orange dahlia would probably be Color Spectacle, whenever the bloom has the white tips. Unfortunately as several friends and I have found, that's very rare.... like maybe 1 out of 20 or more blooms. It took me 3 years to get the first one. CS is widely found in every big box store. But as we've seen, the possibility (probability?) of mislabeling is great.

Wish they all bloomed like this.

I need to add more orange, too, so thank you for creating this thread, Kathy!

Maarn - not a tall plant, but sturdy with great stems, BB sized blooms

Hollyhill Jeanette- BB sized cactus blooms, plant grew over 6 ft last year

Baron Katie- my phone has difficulty capturing the brightness of this one, also BB sized, 4 ft plant, good tuber maker

Showcase Perfection- new to me this year, currently more pink/ coral than orange. B sized bloom, probably one of the biggest/healthiest plants in my garden right now

MERCURY
Introduced in 2013. 12" blooms blend from yellow in the center of the bloom, to orange and red at the tips of the petals. A sport of El Sol, it shares the same growth habit with a plant of 4 1/2'. Nice color, great garden plant. Late bloomer.

POOH
(CO) Intoduced in 1998. A collarette color that is just plain cute! 3 1/2" bright orange blooms outlined in bright yellow, with a yellow collar make this one hard to miss. Very prolific bloomer on a 4 1/2' bush. Incredible garden color and holds well as a cutflower too. An attention getting collarette variety to add to your collection. Recommended as a cut flower. Should do well in exhibition.

Are you thinking of adding Pooh and Mercury to your lineup, Kathy? I have grown Pooh (it is cute!), but it can often be more red. 2 oranges that I am seriously considering are "Nicholas" and "Woodland's Wild Thing".

I am growing Pooh and Mercury .... Mercury looks more red than orange today.

I've seen "Nicholas", will have to look up "Woodland's Wild Thing".

I also have "Jane Cowl", but it looks more bronze. Not sure what color category it belongs in.

I know I'm late to this post but hopefully in time for those that are formulating their dahlia orders for 2020? I LOVE orange and orange blend dahlias and here are some of my favorites:

Woodland's Wildthing (B Semi cactus) was a big winner for me this year at the shows

Most definitely one of my all time favorites is AC Ben (AA Semi cactus) although it is a light blend color. This too won largest bloom in my division for me at a show.

I also like Alfred C (AA Semi cactus)

And Pam Howden (waterlily) is always a good show contender
