I have a Golden Cane Palm in a pot, potted when it was young about a year ago. It has since grown well, but has this brown spotting on the leaves. Does anyone know what it is and if I need to worry about it?

Not enough water or inconsistent watering can cause the entire plant or selected leaves to turn brown. Palms need watering when the surface of the soil is dry. Water until the soil is moist and excess water drains out of the pot. Too much water or poor drainage also causes leaf browning.

Thanks @luis_pr. Are there two things going on here? The ends of the leaves going brown, and then those spots that have a black bit in the middle and brown ring? They get larger over time and seem to spread / duplicate?

It is a common leaf spot fungal disease; here is more info:

Mikejforde If you pull the plant out of the pot and get a good look at the root ball, and investigate the moisture content, you can prevent fungus. A persons first response when they see sick leaves on a prize plant is to to want to water it. Big mistake because over watering causes fungus problems. However if you just get a look at the root ball early on you can prevent a fungus.

Thank you @luis_pr and @oneeyeluke
I'll remove all infected leaves / branches, and spray with an anti fungal, and make sure the soil dries out a bit.

Those are generic symptoms with multiple possible causes, including improper watering (too much or too little), too much sun, and (rarely) a fungal disease.

Are you growing it inside or outside? Does the pot have drain holes? What has been your watering routine? How is your water quality?

A photo of the entire plant would be helpful.
