I just need to vent since I am going into my third week plus of vertigo and anxiety. Off and on for weeks now and it is just draining my body of any energy or happiness I have had.
The anxiety is so bad some days that it goes into a full panic attack, which scares the living heck out of me. I am not sure if I am having a stroke or heart attack.

Tomorrow I have my 6 month check up with my cardiologist. EKG, Ultra sound of the heart, pacemaker check.....I am already in a state of panic. That goes back to 2011 when I went into the office feeling o.k. and they admitted me for a pacemaker because of my EKG, etc. Now, every time I go I am afraid they will keep me. I find myself preparing my house for a no return. It is stupid and yet I can not control it by using all the methods I have been taught over the years.
I keep praying for mental and physical strength to help me get thru tomorrow. Thanks for listening. I apologize for being such a baby at the old age of 91. Can't seem to get my big girl pants on these days and fight it. Love to you all. *Blush*

JB, you just vent away, anything that helps you, go for it. You have my sympathy on the vertigo, I get it once in awhile but it doesn't last long, it can be debilitating, and then to add panic attacks, no wonder you need to vent. I hope everything goes well for you on your doctor visit tomorrow, with no new surprises. Group hug

I'm so sorry, Jacquie. Group hug

I'm late in responding so you're close to your doctor's appointment now. I hope all goes well, and, you know, it most likely will! Thumbs up Please let us know how it goes.

Maybe you should talk to your doc about your anxiety. Maybe he'd have some suggestions, or prescribe medication for particularly bad days like these.

Don't apologize about complaining. At your age, you deserve to complain!

JB please do not feel bad about sharing your issues. We need each other. Your fear is real. I have been thru both of the issues you are dealing with. I would rather be in pain then deal with dizziness or panic issues. Those two things are the worst. I hope you have someone to be with you tomorrow. Group hug Praying for you.

I used to suffer from anxiety. I just had too much on my plate as they say. I knew if I could just get one item off my plate, I could deal with the rest. Changing jobs helped immensely. Getting negative people out of my life, and/or, getting them to stop bullying me made a BIG difference in my general health. I am grateful I am now in a position of not having to spend one minute of my life around people who are rude to me if I don't want to.

I hope you figure out what is causing the anxiety and get a handle on it. Best wishes!

Hurray! Hurray! Hurray! Hurray! Hurray! Hurray! Hurray! Hurray! Hurray! Hurray!
I am just fine and do not need to go back for 6 months. The doctor was so pleased with my bloodwork and EKG I did not need the Ultra sound this time. Thank you Lord. Anyhow, she was so happy but had to laugh because my BP was up to 174/84 when I got there because of the anxiety. I had taken 2 xanax and a dramamine but we took the short cut through the Joint Base McGuire Dix Lakehurst (MDL) and when we got to the back gate, which is just about 1/2 mile from Deborah Heart and Lung (my doc's office) the darn gate was on lock down and we were not allowed to leave. Had to turn around and start all over again. Now we only have 5 minutes until my appointment check in is due. Sooooooooo, BP goes up and anxiety is the cause of course....we went back out the base front gate and had to take the long way (another 15 minutes longer) so we arrived approximately 20 minutes late but we called and told them, so it was o.k. Until we parked and walked to our entrance I was sure my old arthritis hips would not make it, but they did and I was not out of breath but my heart rate was up of course. What a way to start hours of testing, etc. Turned out all went well no matter what happened prior.
They are used to the military being late at times plus they were running late. All went well and thanks to all of you for your wonderful support. Love you all.

Vertigo is really a pain to deal with and the anxiety is caused by not knowing when I am going to go for a twirl....so, xanax is what I take. By the time I left my doctors office the BP was down to 130/80. We were able to enter the base on the way home and so we stopped at the Base/Post Exchange to drop off a package at UPS store and then to Burger King for a small whopper. Great way to end a stressful morning. Bye for now and thanks again for all your wonderful posts and support.

I am amazed that there are no other vertigo people in this group. This is a very common problem nationwide, world wide in fact, so much so the internet is full of vertigo support pages.
Just wondering?

Aw, I'm so sorry, Jacquie. The closest I ever got to it was with a new blood pressure prescription. Every time I stood up I had to sit down or fall down because it was so bad. Mine was ok with the new prescription. What causes yours? Do you have meds for it?

JB I was hospitalized for dizziness and vomiting over a year ago. Ran lots of tests, Cat scan, MRI. heart. Never came to any conclusion. Emergency room doc thought I was having a stroke though there were zero symptoms of that. Said mouth was crooked, husband said it was not and nurses agreed but he scared me into the tests. Made a lot of money for the hospital. A year later when I switched to a new primary care doctor she said it was just vertigo. Maybe hits a couple times a year, that was first time nausea went with it.

To me it is a horrible feeling and I pray it never returns, especially now that my husband has passed away and I am alone. Do not know how I would have gone thru that without him. So sorry you deal with it.

JB, I have a mild case of vertigo, at least so far, looking up and moving around, especial on uneven ground, makes me dizzy and nauseous, ugh, feels awful. I had to stop cleaning the shower and get DH to do it.

I never mentioned my own experience with vertigo here, JB, because the thread is marked "closed" on the Sandbox home page. Confused

I have vertigo (BPPV) every morning when I wake up. It only lasts for 2 or 3 minutes, during which I slowly make the transition to a sitting position and then stand up, keeping my eyes closed until the spinning sensation stops. It used to last longer, but now I sleep only on my back or my right side and avoid sleeping on my left side because it seems to be a problem largely confined to one ear. When I go outside to garden, I have to hold my head straight or tipped slightly to the right when I look up at the sky. If my head's tipped to the left, the whole world starts spinning when I lower my head. Various chemical remedies and physical maneuvers have worked for a short time in the past, but nothing has produced a total cure, so I have to rely on my own methods of adapting to the conditiion.

I knew I was not alone in my misery. Sorry to hear you are all having some of the misery I have and delighted to know you are as I am, trying to adjust to the new way of life this problem seems to force us to live. I give you all an acorn for your efforts and hope your future is less dizzy than your present. Some days I am almost blind from blurred vision in my only good eye.
And my hearing is horrible also from the inner ear problem that causes the vertigo. But, my faith in God and my determination to lead a normal life has gotten me to be 91 and holding.

I will pray for you all to have a wonderful day today. I just had my Eucharist from my church visitor and hopefully someone up there was listening. You all take care and have a wonderful day. I am going to spend the day with my plants and pets. Love you all. God Bless Group hug
