This area is in the front of the house, looking for a showstopper type rose... would be good if it grows taller and gets some height but stays tidy wider. Can plant 2 if needed.... other bushes in the front are: Green Velvet boxwood, Berry Awesome Hibiscus and Vanilla Strawberry Hydrangea. so color would have to be white, pink, peach, may be red.... ?

I know its late to plant so just want to get some ideas and may be pre-order.... good if you have recommendations where to pre-order from.

Thank you
In Central Indiana, zone 5B/6

Could you post a picture of the area so we have a better idea of what we're dealing with? Makes a difference in what anyone can recommend.

I was going to suggest Chandos Beauty ... but it may be zone 6b...which wouldn't do for you.

Couple of old stand bys that are pink, on the tall side, easily available and winter hardy are Queen Elizabeth and Memorial Day. You probably can get both locally but can also order both from Angel Gardens.

Seil - I thought about Memorial Day...but I think it's too tender for her zone??

What a beautiful home you have! I am thinking a yellow rose might do very well there. I might suggest Julia Child. It will get tall but can be kept at a lower height with pruning. It also does get wide, so it would fill in quite nicely. It is scented as well. Beautiful flowers.

Any of the Knock Out series would go here? Again, need height over spread... and in pink, white, purple, red shades.

By the way, I didnot tell you what was planted here before. I had Bo Bo Hydrangeas planted here in Spring.. some reason they did not survive... so I want to switch to rose bush, thinking that its hardier.

I am not a good person to ask about the Knock Out series as I think there are much better roses out there. Perhaps others will chime in on how they do.

What about Pink Pet? Mine is tip hardy in Z6. Grafted and planted in 2018 it's is at least 4' high and is constantly in bloom with small pretty flowers. A deep dark red that would be hardy in Z is AC Navy Lady. It also makes a great looking bush. Two or three would fill the space. Are you going to repeat the same on the other side or maybe use a climber in a similar colour to go up the banisters and end column? If you are and chose NL Red Cascade climber has a similar dark colour. Jean LaJoie would be pretty as a pink climber although I've read there exist a climbing pink pet. None of these are the most fragrant but PP has a light clove scent that wafts for me. If you are looking for scent perhaps Marie Pavie . I love this rose also. If you want to get fancy you could mix it with its pink sport Marie Daley.

I'd do 3 bush's of Queen Elizabeth. They would be an impact statement.
It's a rose!!! It has nothing to do with life and death.

I agree it would look beautiful. My concern though is with black spot which is similar in Indiana to here. In other words horrible. However if the homeowner is willing to spray that would be a different story. Queen Elizabeth defoliate in my yard. It's worth trying though!

Hi I'm back again- and going to get those QE rose bushes to plant in that area. Just one question though- this area faces East. And gets sunlight until noon/1pm. Will QE roses thrive here?

Thank you
