Hey guys!

I have this Aluca Spiralis - Albus - for more than a year now. When I bought him, there was only one spot where the leaves came out, but now I have two. Can I cut the bulb in half? If so, how? I'm afraid to damage the plant. It is quite hard to come by here.
Thank you!

For me, I would not divide it yet. Still looks so okay like that. Smiling

We all have our preferences, I would rather let the plant mature some more and grow more bulbs. You can certainly try, but not sure if this is the proper time of the year to do that. I tend to do propagations if ever more towards Spring, not during late Fall.

One of the few Albuca species that are self-fertile. (It can produce seed by pollenating itself.)

The bulb will divide on its own if it is ready to split, and then you can finish breaking it apart. Until then, I wouldn't do any cutting.

It's hard to tell by looking at the top. When you remove the soil from the side of the bulb, and notice the division extending from the top to (or almost to) the bottom, then you will know it is time.
