HELP! So curious as to what this might be. It is tropical in appearance, yet thrives in my 6-6b growing zone. It gets about 3 feet tall and has a reddish green mottled stem. A semi circle of 8-9 leaves . It does not appear multiply or spread, or does so very very slowly. It is in a partial sun location having been moved years ago from a mostly shaded area (early morning sun only).

Ashville, N.C. is listed as zone 7a and I agree, your plant looks like Voodoo Lily (Sauromatum venosum) - synonym Typhonium venosum.
