The 2 mil thickness is adequate, but check for the price for the quantity you want and shipping cost as some suppliers offer free shipping. Yes, prices do vary even within plastic bag sellers and even good sized companies are looking for business and will be glad to sell a thousand bags which come in a pretty small box, so not difficult to store. On the other hand, there are people who offer these bags regularly on the LA in lots of a 100-500 or more as do stores like Office Depot, etc., and even WalMart, but you will pay a premium for the small quantities at a local store.
