Hurray! cannot tell if this is leftover from my rebloom in december, but a separate stalk of 'clarence' was my first iris opening of 2020 on 1/7/2020.

couldn't get a very good photo of it; the angle, proximity to other irises,, and slight incline where it's planted.

thank you evelyn and andrea, yes, it seems that i always ( or almost always begin my iris season with'tb's'). i have fewer bb', ib's and sdb's. not by choice, but by climactic limitations. my sdbs' have all but perished, with the exception of 'teagan', which a generous member shared with me from her garden.

but i am afraid it's languishing in the ground, and may have to be potted up again in order to thrive.

a stalk is forming on 'midnight seas', me thinks. it's either that one or 'autumn rain'. it's too dark and cold right now to check. but here's a pic of it from yesterday.

Thumb of 2020-01-09/shizen/94cc52 i'm pretty sure it's the former, and they're both sutton's.

sutton irises do well here, and they rebloom, too. whether or not they're supposed to.

thank you, dirt. i always have some to share. unfortunately, most that i cultivate are of the tender variety, and do not fare well in the cold. i've shared many with a friend who lives in sherry/henhouse's neck of the woods. she's lost almost all, with the exception of a few that she's kept in pots, sheltered on her porch.

Look at what is blooming now?! Three more what's to come in the next few days and weeks. coming soon 'carpe diem', midnight seas, and ab 'tabriz'.

Thumb of 2020-01-11/shizen/290eaa
Thumb of 2020-01-11/shizen/d59e33blooming very, very short nary an inch above the "v" in the leaves. i didn't even see the pregnant fan.

same for the bud on this fan. i just noticed it because of the color showing.
Thumb of 2020-01-11/shizen/c44808 looks like a bloomout, though. ffe, maiden bloom, and no increases showing.🥴😟

yes, evelyn. mika and i usually have an early post in january. it's usually blossoms from her garden in france, which i suspect may have about the same or at least similar temperatures.

however, i think she's more sucessful with the "littles", than i am.

It sure takes the edge off the wait, just to see your seasons beginning. I still have 2 months but seeing others seasons start, make me hopeful mine is not too far away. It's always so exciting. What will bloom, what I will see for the 1st time ever, and then even on those I have seen, what new and different aspect to this years blooms might pop up.

We have had only a few days of winter. It's almost like an early spring weather in a way. Nights do get down anywhere from 38 to 45, but days up into the low 70s.

And, even when there's nothing new or different, it's still like spending joyous and familiar time with a good old friend you only get a chance to hang out with once a year Hilarious!

I don't know if I could handle a lot of snow. I do like it though.
