I have pictures of the fruit, I didn't have a camera with me when I was near the tree but I did take a lousy photo out a car later on, so if you're desperate to get a fuzzy idea of the tree I will find that photo. The tree was growing in a pot outside and was 5-6 feet tall, with several of these fruits on it yesterday in Jalisco state. This one had fallen, the ones still attached were a fresher red-pink with no spots. They were shiny and looked artificial. Unfortunately my guide and the shopowner didn't know the tree. Maybe you will!

Wow! That's what it looks like, although there seem to be many species of Thevetia, and not a lot of photos for me to browse. T. ahouai is native to Jalisco, so it seems very likely.

Thanks so much! How did you come to know this plant? I googled for 2-lobed red (or pink) fruit and got NOTHING. Was 2-lobed wrong?

Also, do you have tips on seed germination? Smiling

I've seen this in the past. and the fruit is quite typical of some Apocynaceae with two lobe fruit

I never grow any of Thevetia, but perhaps they germination will be similar to the Thevetia Peruviana / Cascabela Thevetia, which germinates easily and grow veral in my place.
Some source said it geminates around 4 weeks at a temperature close to 30 ° C. fresh seed might be faster to the dried ones, but I'm not sure.
