Is there a list of diploids that have been converted to tets? Why I was wondering saw a cross that had both a dip and a tet in parentage. I thought you could cross dips with dips and tets with tets.

Reverted conversion ?

Sometimes the parentage provided to the registrar isn't precise, and a tet conversion will be listed by its normal diploid name with no "tet" modifier.

What's the cultivar in question?

Edited to add; It would be tough to compile a list of every converted diploid, as many of them aren't known to the general public, at least until they're recorded as a parent.

Forestlake Ragamuffin

I guess I don't understand the question, Forestlake Ragamuffin is registered as a tetraploid, and so are the plants in its parentage.

Error.

You can pollinate a tetraploid with pollen from a diploid and you can pollinate a diploid with pollen from a tetraploid. In many cases the pollination appears to work, at least to begin with, and a pod is set. Usually the pod is aborted in seven to ten days. Sometimes it is aborted much later.
Very rarely the pod may not be aborted and good seed may be produced, although most such seeds probably do not germinate one may occasionally get a seedling. It would most likely be a triploid.

However, in many cases the pod and any viable seeds from such crosses are likely to be from natural insect pollinations (contamination). Therefore if the pod parent is a diploid any viable seeds from an apparent diploid x tetraploid pollination are could be diploids and if the pod parent is a tetraploid any viable seeds from an apparent tetraploid x diploid pollination are could be tetraploids.

Error.

The AHS database is chock full of these, and of course, they're ported over to this database. Fortunately, here they can be corrected. I've reported a couple of similar errors within the past few weeks. It's like an acorn farm.

I thought the original question was referring to a different circumstance.

Missing tet in front of Spindazzle.

That type of omission is very common. Either people just forget when they register cultivars, or they don't think it's important. Maybe it isn't, if you think about it.

Sorry, I do not think that there is a list of cultivars that have been converted to tetraploid.

If you go to the registration database at https://www.daylilies.org/Dayl...
near the bottom of the screen there is a field labelled Parentage. If you type the word tet in that field and press the enter key the search will return 3,450 daylilies found.
Most of those daylilies will have a parent that is converted and designated as tet followed by the cultivar name.
You can create your own list of all the converted named daylilies that have been successfully used in crosses and produced at least one identified registered daylily.

I think because a lot of people are experimenting with the conversions a full list would be very difficult to develop.

Larry Grace sells conversions. You might check his site [Graceland Gardens] and look at the various pages for those marketed to the public in the last few years.

Only one I have is tet My cup overflows. I have dip and tet. Biggest flower Ive ever seen. If you just type in my cup overflows, it only brings up dips tho.

Pam a few of her registered sixteen offspring are from her tet side. I only have the dip. Slow to increase here in two different locations. Pod difficult.

I cant get the tet to grow worth a hoot. Dip does well but doesnt like the mid summer heat.

I bought Tet 'Rainbow Radiance' last year after bloom season [first time I can remember seeing it] so now have both dip & tet. Love the polychrome. We'll see how the Tet does this year. Also have Tet 'Purple Eyed Magic' and Tet 'Cosmic Kaleidoscope' is coming soon.

I got Tet Peppermint Delight from Mark last spring. Dave I have the dip Cosmic Kaleidoscope and love it.

The information I have is that tet conversions can revert to diploid over time. That depends on whether the original tet conversion was complete. Again my understanding is that conversions are often not complete.
Therefore the advice to potential buyers of conversions is to request information from the seller about when the ploidy of the conversion was last checked by a microscopic chromosome count.
