One of my more weird plants. Decidedly uncommon in cultivation. Endemic to the Peruvian Andes, thick leaf blades, upright habit, large growing. This one is a baby.

I like the weird ones the best. I can't believe that one is a baby!! It looks like a giant.

Does't it? There is not a whole lot of info about it. The anthuriums in the section that it belongs to are ones I have never seen on the market anywhere. Its synonymous with Anthurium nervosum, which also is very scant on online info. It will be interesting to watch it. I think it may be a climber, but its hard to tell right now. I can;t find any real photos of it in habitat that show a mature plant. So I am just going to have to find out on my own.

The texture in the leaves is amazing. Very interesting looking plant. I hope you update on this one! I am now especially curious to know if it's a climber.

The plot thickens. It has been suggested to me that this plant could also possibly be Anthurium jesusii. If you look at side by side comparison photos of the 2 species, they are pretty much indistinguishable from each other. The only differences are where they are endemic to, and the color of the spathe when the plant blooms. So I need a bloom to know for certain which one mine is. It is more LIKELY that it is weberbaui, because that plant is endemic to Peru, and Ecuador is where Ecuagenera is located.

me too. This is where taxonomy and morphology can be so important....I looked at photos of these 2 (weberbaui and jesusii) side by side and they are virtually indistinguishable to the cursory examination.

So we got home from Indianapolis and smelled smoke when my husband turned the furnace back up. Long story short, we spent Sunday night in a hotel with the furnace off until a technician could come out Monday morning. It turned out to be the hot water heater that was smoking. It got down to 50 in the house and all
My plants seem to be fine except my alocasia poly that's blooming Grumbling
It had two leaves drop. Didn't lose any color or anything, just flopped over the side of the pot. It's nice and warm in here again, so I'm hoping I don't lose the bloom.

It will be ok! Is it a little nearer the window? Might have been in a cold pocket...

I really hope so. This is the first time it's bloomed so I'm really looking forward to it.

It's near a window, yes. And I had to open the windows right when the smoke first started flowing in.
