This is one of those daylilies I could take pictures of all the time. Pink Aloha is a wonderful symmetrical ruffled pink. She blooms in my climate for a long time, usually as singles not flushes. For many years she has been hardy for me, although I wouldn't place her out in the north 40 considering her Buntyn Florida heritage. She's one of my top daylilies just for her beauty alone. Put her face where people can admire it up close.

I lost Pink Aloha twice growing it in a pot, so you know it's special because I bought it a third time and planted it close to the foundation of my house for extra protection. The color and ruffling are exquisite. The one I have now was slower to establish and take off multiplying than other pinks purchased and planted at the same time. This is year four, and it's just starting to clump up. It is a sprawling plant that takes up twice the room of my other pinks, even though it has half the fans. The plant I have puts up new fans three to five inches away from the others. When it opens well, it's a stunner. It's a late morning opener here. In my normal summer climate with temps above 93, I haven't had much luck hybridizing with it. But last year when temps were lower (highs of 91), I set a lot of seed with it.

The best pink daylily flower. It has it all: color, form, fullness, texture, size, substance, and great scapes, with nice bud count. Could be a bit more hardy. It takes a beating from Winter, but recovers nicely. So far so good here in USDA Zone 7a/b. I'm really looking forward to seedlings bred from it to dormant pinks.

I'm really looking forward to seeing this bloom. I planted a big double fan last fall, and it's been growing steadily through a mild winter, really looking husky and happy. I like the color, and most of the images in the database show good form and proper opening.

I didn't think this one would survive, but it has and can throw some gorgeously ruffled flowers. The scape height is much lower here, though is above the foliage. Some blooms hang up or don't open flat. It did have rebloom last year. Here it is on rebloom in mid-August. Was a gift from someone in Michigan, where performance was not satisfactory.
