It seems I never venture out to the north side of my house, but today I was walking my sis's puppy around and she wanted to go there... so I looked down the path and was AMAZED at my camelia bushes! I don't have sprinklers there and hardly ever see any color and practically no camelia blooms in Jan-Feb, but today there were blooms all over my bushes. It has to be the rain we had in December -- we only get on average about 6-1/2" every year and have been in a drought condition more often than not, but in December we managed to get a few direct hits and ended up with something like 2-3/4" for the month. And ever since it's been really green around here compared to other winters, although practically no rain... and of course now we've gotten exactly .01" of rain in February and are back into drought conditions again. And so it goes...

But I just had to pick some camelia blooms to float, and just looking at them on my kitchen island really perks me up. I'm sure ready for spring! Sighing!

The State Ag Inspector came for a visit yesterday and we agreed this has been the wettest winter in resent memory. The daylily sprinklers have not been on since lining out in late Sept.

Oh, thank you so much for those beautiful pictures, Davi -- fantastic! Really perks me up even further! Lovey dubby Thumbs up

You're welcome, Steve, and I'm sorry that you-all are still in really wintery conditions. But maybe soon... And on another optimistic note -- Fred (Spunky1) is sending my plants next week -- YEA, I can't wait, and after seeing those pictures of his plants I'm even more excited! And I also just heard from Karen Pierce, and she's also mailing my Floyd Cove order next week too. So near the end of next week I'll be on cloud 9...

Love that puppy, Steve!

EDIT: I just now got an email from Patrick Guidry, and he's also mailing my plants on Monday! YEA!!!

I am so jealous that you will be getting your DL shipments already!
I was rather startled by your yearly rainfall amount. Average in Baltimore is 42 inches. With your heat your sprinklers must have to go like crazy for your plants.

I'm glad I don't have to Swiffer that house every Saturday, @Davi. I was all set to be envious of those pictures, but my next thought after "I'm glad I don't have to Swiffer the house" was "and I'm glad I don't have to weed all that garden space tomorrow." Maybe I live in the perfect place for me, with the summer that's juuust right.

@Ahead. Nice puppy! Look how he/she keeps a paw on that stick. Nobody is getting that stick!

Wow, I knew California could be dry, but never seen the numbers. I think we had that much rain here in Ky in February! Can't grow camellias here though, just beautiful colors. Thank you for brightening the day for me. And congrats on getting your daylilies already! It will be a couple of months before mine come I guess. Sad

I thought my gardening friend in Lubbock Texas had low rainfall at 17" average, until I met my Santa Barbara friend at 7". We, like Fred, had way over normal in 2019, which made the blackspot on the roses run wild, but kept me from having to drag the hoses around in 100 degree temperatures to water my daylily pots every single day.............Betty your Camelias look lovely. They are fairly iffy in our zone. Sue: You can keep the snow. I really don't like it...... Nice looking dog Steve, and Judy: I think your pictures are just what I think about when I think of Savannah. White pillars, spanish moss and wrought Iron outdoor furniture. Beautiful.........Maryl in Oklahoma
