Purchased this for three bucks at the local nursery. Leaves smell strong like black and blue. Flowers are pinkish and lavenderish.

There are more guaranitica type salvias entering the market every year. This appears to be another one. I was looking through a list of 2019 trial garden plants a few days ago and there was a group of guaranitica salvias from a plant company called Hilverdakooij. One of their salvias looked like the one in your photos. It may be the one called salvia 'lake tahoe' on their website... just a guess.

I don't think this is that one. The nursery I go to is kind of a local father and son biz. Don't think they would have the new plants there. I am guessing it's an older variety.

I just requested this thread to be moved to plant id. Any suggestions on this salvia type appreciated.

Can you go back to the source nursery and ask them? It is a very nice Salvia.
