I love traditional Christmas cactus plants (S buckleyi) but haven't had much luck finding them for sale. I found a few pink ones on Ebay and Etsy, but I really want a white one.

Years and years ago, before Thanksgiving cacti were common, I worked in an office and the lady in the room next to mine had several huge, beautiful traditional Christmas cacti hanging from the ceiling. One was white and, in bloom, it was stunning. I asked the lady for a cutting several times, but she always put me off, saying that it wasn't a good time to disturb the plant (in a 10' basket, would a cutting have done any damage?).

Before work one day, there was nobody around and I lost control. I snuck in and took 1 little cutting.

I fussed over it and it finally grew enough to make 1 flower bud. Dark pink. That was my punishment for coveting my neighbors plant.

Ever since then, I have looked for a white S buckleyi and have never found one. Does anyone have one, or know of where I can get one?

Thanks. Sighing!

My 2 cents are that it doesnt exist. truncata(ones with green spikes on the sides), is the ones with colorful flowers. Ive seen red, had orange, white, yellow, magenta, and sometimes a mix of the 2.
buckleyii is uniform magenta. Grown under certain conditions(temp, lighting etc) you could get a whiter shade...but thats anyone's guess. I heard something about room temp affecting color...

Schlumbergera x buckleyi has rounded edged leaves and pink/red flowers. Its not the plant you usually see for sale anywhere. My father in law had one years and years ago. I tried to rescue the one I thought it was when he died but, I think I ended up with an Easter Cactus (daughter is waiting for flowers to check this).

Whitton Greenhouses is the best place I have ever found for Holiday Cactus of all kinds:

I ordered some Schlumberger seeds online. There were no instructions. I found info on Youtube. It said it could take up to 3 months to germinate. I planted them and covered with plastic last week as instructed. I didn't check because I though they would take forever to germinate. I looked a them today and they had all germinated and were tall and leggy. Now what?

I looked up the name of the seeds you mentioned. Nothing plant related showed up. there any other name for you bought? Sometimes buying seeds on line can be a little risky. I learned the hard way to ALWAYS check review's.
