Thanks, yes, the white BOP's are pretty when they're blooming, but as Jim says, they just get too big. I have at least 4 huge clumps taking up a lot of space and hogging light in my garden. The one with that bloom is "walking" out into the pathway that runs through the front yard. I think the two in the back yard can stay for now, but I'm going to hire the tree guys to come and thin the oaks, and at the same time, remove those big BoP's in the front yard.
Jim, for a plant that starts out looking and smelling like dead meat, that Amorph really is lovely. I am way jealous of your Tibouchina, too. I have a couple of small ones that are struggling. Need to find the right place for them so they can grow and shine like yours. I have oak tree roots everywhere that compete, maybe I'll try sinking a pot for the Tib and see if it takes off.
Not much new here, variegated spiral ginger's funny little tubular flowers.
Abutilons and finally a white Brug with a normal size flower - I've been battling spider mites on all my brugs for months! What with the brugs blooming, 'Big Jim' still wafting the pool cage and the gingers, it smells pretty darned nice out in the garden at night.
Canna 'Stuttgart' is supposed to have gorgeous variegated foliage, but mine never has a swipe of variegation. I like the small, delicate flowers though.
As fragrant as a B. nodosa but keeps its scent through the day. White hedychium
