For me porterweed would be an annual. Would it grow quickly enough to attract wildlife in one season? I would be ordering from a nursery so should be small but healthy. I was thinking of planting in a pot to overwinter. Any thoughts or comments would be appreciated.

Debbieo, you must be reading my mind lately! I'm ordering one. It would be an annual here, too. I'm thinking it would grow quickly enough in a season, as we have a long season, both of us. We seldom have a hard frost until nearly Christmas, I'll bet you're the same. In any case, if it was overwintered it would certainly be big enough next year. At present I overwinter an avocado and lime tree, a huge crown of thorns and various cactus and succulents. What's one more plant?
Yesterday is gone. Tomorrow has not yet come. We have only today. Let us begin.
