Last year I bought several hardy hibiscus in small pots from Plant Delights. I planted them in the fall.
We have had an early warm spring. They emerged beautifully in early April.
And then we had the dreaded blackberry winter.
All my hibiscus were cut to the ground.
So here are my questions.
Being hardy usually means no harm done and they will resprout.
Is this true?
Will it affect bloom production?
I am excited about these new plants. I have never grown hibiscus.

I've never experienced them freezing back after they started to emerge, but I would think that they would be ok. It may set them back a little, maybe fewer or later blooms. Only time will tell.

My guess is that he above guidance is correct.

Plant Delights is a great nursery (the fact that it's about 2 hrs away increases its allure). They are also a great resource, with many knowledgeable staff members who really KNOW their plants.

I'd call them and ask. I wouldn't email, as I've sent in questions before and not had much luck eliciting answers. But if you call, they'll tell you what to expect.
