Is it a Puss Caterpillar? I know it's similar, but it doesn't exactly match the internet photos I could find. I accidentally brushed against one nearly like it decades ago and haven't forgotten the result. Don't want to experience it again. This was close enough to brush against and I was working in the area, so I was lucky to spot it. I trimmed away a lot of oak leaves for the photo. I couldn't find a really good match in my search.

Thanks. I'd forgotten I posted this here. I'd finally got that for an I.D. and was happy to know it's not one that can leave you in a world of pain if you touch it. It just looked to similar in structure to the one I brushed my bare arm across years ago. Not an experience I want to repeat Smiling .
