I was very disappointed with the first whale fin I got it had a rotten root and the leaf was all shriveled. I complained and got this one as a replacement I am very happy I transplanted it and it had nice new roots. Hopefully it will have some nice pups soon. I do have two rooted babies from the big one (not the whalefin) for a trade. BTW this is a New York window.

Hi, I'm also in NY and expecting my whale fins to be delivered this week! May I ask how your plant is doing at the windowsill and what type of light does it get? Thank you!

I have one that is over 15 years old. It's the one pictured in the database. It grows extremely slowly even in a greenhouse. it has plenty of light, humidity and water. It will bloom for me about every other year.

When that happens, cut out the rotten roots and any rotten parts of the rhizome, let it callus for a day, then place it in a mason jar with distilled/reverse osmosis water. Roots will slowly form and the leaf will start to uncurl.
