I saw this pretty shrub at a local park yesterday. It had dainty little purple flowers. Anyone have an ID? NW Georgia. Thanks!

It is an Abelia...maybe Abelia x grandiflora...commonly called Glossy Abelia.
Note id feature flowers with showy soft pink bracts.

Maybe I'm showing my age, but I just can't get over how someone in Scotland is identifying plants here in Georgia- and so quickly! You have been a huge help to me, thank you. I'm sure I will have many more ID requests.
Hurray! Thank You! Terri

Easy......we used to grow lots of shrubs and plants in UK.

We used to collect plants like other people collect stamps.
Sadly had too move as maintenance got too much for 2 of us as we got older.

There are many Abelia sp...we used to grow several.

These are a few of my pics.

Wow!! I love the Abelia Schumannii. I will definitely be seeking an Abelia or two or three.....to add to my landscape. So exciting to learn about another beautiful shrub. Thank you for the photos- stunning! Thank You!
