Okay, so there is a thread for this already, but it is too broad I think. This one is specific to cacti in flower.

I just got this cactus in the mail from eBay, in bud; the buds survived both shipment and transplant .
I always liked the bicolors but the species are so variable that getting ones that for sure have bi-colored flowers is difficult unless you buy them in bloom.


I also got Sulcorebutia bicolor but I think all of its buds are spent... oh well always next year!

And today, the first of my "Easter" cacti! I have some Echinopsis and Trichocereus in bud but they are still a ways away. I bought this Echinobivia (Echinopsis x Lobivia) hybrid not long after seeing a presentation at the San Diego cactus and succulent society by YouTuber EchinopsisFreak. I saw it and Echinopsis subdenudata for sale at Home Depot for really cheap in 3 inch pots and figured why not.
Glad I made that decision!

Wonderful, super colorful blooms!

I celebrate the opportunity to have a thread with cactus flowers. We do not have one dedicated to this subject and I think the idea is great, wherever it leads.

This was in the public garden this afternoon....

@Baja_Costero - I too was looking for a thread dedicated to cactus flowers and did not find one. This thread does not seem to be all that active through.

This cactus flowered yesterday.

I was able to snap a quick picture at 6:20 am before work, thinking I might be able take more in the early afternoon. The species is supposed to be night-blooming so I moved it to the shade but the flowers still faded by the time I got home around mid-day.

At least I saw it this year. Last year, I saw the bud before work just as it was about to open and came back to a faded bloom. My parents saw it, but neither of them took a photo
Granted, they thought I saw it in the morning. It was a single bloom last year and reportedly much larger as a result. I guess this year it figured out the difference between night and day . It probably opened at night and I happened to see it in the morning before the sun reached it.

It is sort of magical that we can preserve these fleeting moments forever.

Astrophytum and Parodia in bloom here:



The Parodia flowers only open in the sun, but the Astro doesn't seem to need that.

Would love to know what kind of cactus this is. It is a fairly prolific bloomer this spring.



Here is another I've had for years and is a reliable bloomer every year. Tiny but super easy to propagate at keep healthy in my windows.

The first one reminds me of the Echinocereus pentalophus I used to have (maybe Peanut Cactus (Chamaecereus silvestrii) ?) and the second is Thimble Cactus (Mammillaria vetula subsp. gracilis) or a close relative. Beautiful flowers, thank you for sharing!
