Which is a prettier blue to you in your garden? I have had Blue Pearl for 2 yrs but have never been able to keep Blue Elf alive to really copare and was just wondering which is the favorite of those growing both.

TY @springcolor, I always love your combo succulent pots they are always so colorful. Blue Pearl is not a fast grower but at least it survives. I got it in one of those mixed succulent carpets.

You got a blue Pearl in a mix succulent carpet? It's an up right grower like autumn Joy. Pictured in the center of the big pot to the right.

My 'Blue Pearl' is grown in the raised bed and gets some size on it. Makes a beautiful plant.

Yes it was in one of the carpets buys. I did not know what it was until I asked the nursery. They make their own carpet mix. It is up right but not as tall as my Autumn joy.

They put it in the middle of the carpet and there is a mixture of the low ground cover sedum. The nursery use the left over to make the carpets and mini statues and sell them after the classes. They send a email notification of after Seminar sale flyer. I always go to the mini garden sale to get the sedum.

That's great! I see sedum carpet here but it's mostly Angelina, dragons blood and a few other common ground cover sedum.

Yes I have seen the carpets at Lowes and they are expensive for what you get, The nursery always have a lot of goodies in their carpet. There will be one or two common but the majority is usually new to me plants. I never go to the classes because I am cheap they charge 150.00 and it includes the plants, decor and instructor fee.

That's a lot even if it includes the plants.

Thanks! So it's like what they call a sedum tile but perhaps a little bigger. Fred Meyers usually sells these sedum tiles, something like a foot square.

Yep Connie. The names are interchangeable like NY say Soda, and Pa call it Pop same thing. The ones I get at the nursery are 12 x 24.

@springcolor, it is a lot and it is worth the price depending on circumstances. New to plant people, the Instructors they hire are top in their field, the quality plants they provide, and the one I went to it was a lot of seniors that liked getting out with their friends,

I see the reason for the cost but I am cheap and know I could do any of the Seminars they have offered.

Speaking of 'Blue Elf', can anyone keep this alive? If so, what is your secret? I got some this year with some other of the Sunsparkler sedums. Everything else is growing great, but the 'Blue Elf' looks like it's on its last leg.

Good morning Nathaniel. I have Blue Elf and it is doing great. How are you growing yours? Mine is planted in the demo bed. Can you take a photo of yours, so we can see what's going on?

@valleylynn. Here is a picture of it. When I got it from young's about a month ago, it was about a 3in root ball. It's only gotten smaller since then.

I am not one to ask this is the third time I have tried to keep it alive.

Nathaniel, what kind of soil is it under the rock top dress? What type of soil and ball did it come with? I just moved mine from our old house up to the new place and it's already growing well. Try giving it a shot of the quick start at half strength. Also check and make sure the roots are okay.

The soil underneath started out as pretty clayish. I added a fair amount of gravel and Sand before putting the top layer of gravel. It's probably more on the moist side due to all of the rain we have had. The other sedums seem to be doing well. The roots are super small and almost on existent. I gave all of me sedums 3 roads on QS. I may try moving it to a pot with the same mix my container semps grow in.

I think 'Blue Elf' is much happier with a less lean soil, that still will drain well. And it seems to like a bit more moisture than some of the really drought tolerant sedum. It also doesn't appear to put out a big roots system. I only treated mine once with the QS, when it came in the mail I planted it, watered it in well and gave it a shot of the QS.
