Redbirds-in-a-Tree is a charming perennial native hardy in USDA zones 5a through 10b that is a MUST for Hummingbird Gardens! Once established, this is a hardy, drought-tolerant plant with few pests or maintenance issues.
This plant is often classified as a small decidous shrub, but the plant actually behaves much more as a salvia than a shrub. It is an excellent choice for planting in and among other salvia or well-stemmed perennials such as coneflowers. Stems on the plant are no taller than 36 to 48", but the plant often sprawls more than 8' in a season and provides a long blooming display once established.
SIZE: The plants offered are first-year, well-rooted and blooming in the large plug containers. These are sufficient size to be planted out in the garden or placed into a large container until spring planting.
COST: $16 for three (3) plants
HANDLING: Soil and top-growth will be maintained. Note that the tops of this plant do not travel well, but all efforts will be made to maintain green growth this time of year.
