I think this is a banana tree or a bird of paradise I'm not sure. I think its too large for a bird of paradise as it is a houseplant only in zone 7 (New York City). I am not sure as it is a medium size about 7 feet tall versus birds of paradise being 5 feet. I don't think its a banana tree as the stalks palms flow out from the base not like a banana tree that has a thicker stalk.

White Bird of Paradise I think. They can get to be very tall.
