I've grown literally thousands of roses over the years and Charisma is still my favorite. I have many bushes of it, scattered around various parts of my garden. It is ridiculously vulnerable to black spot every spring here, but it's otherwise quite healthy. Some of my Charisma bushes are 35 years old and are still going strong. Some of them are planted in shady parts of my garden, where they really light up the darkness.
Pepper, thanks for enabling Was thinking same thing.
Zuzu, few hours after I posted, I went back and got the bush. Colors of the blooms were just too gorgeous!!! Hope mine will be good like yours. Where I live it's very hot and dry during summer. I'm going to assume I will probably get the black spots as well when it rain in the spring. I appreciate all the info.
I've had at least one Charisma in my gardens since the early 1990's. Always a bright "hello" in the garden. Plus several stems of the 3 bloom sprays make a great bouquet.
It's a rose!!! It has nothing to do with life and death.
If I had a good spot for that rose I would get it myself. But my rose bush space is now taken for the season but I do have a good spot for a climber, just don't have the fencing to wrap around the old telephone pole.
Had to smile when I read "wrap around the old telephone pole". What r u looking at or have in mind??? I'm also looking at climbers. So far I have these 2: Quicksilver & Lavender Crush. Not sure what I want but, saw photos of these online and I am partial to anything purple/lavender.
Ken...WOW!!! From the '90s. Let's hope mine will last too!!! The more I look at it the more I like this little rose bush. Colors are soooo vibrant!!! Blooms remind me of Lavaglut.
