I told Maureen who is over the INTERNATIONAL SEED BANK I would post this info here

If anyone has extra seeds they may not plant (these could be the ones sitting in your fridge from 2 years ago Whistling ) the INTERNATIONAL SEED BANK would love to have them. It's pretty simple to fill out a customs form and mail them. This is what Maureen told me to do "You may need a customs declaration sticker from your post office. For value, write NCV (no commercial value) $1.00. For description write daylily seeds, gift." The rest of the form is just writing your name and address and the recipients name and address.

You can send them to

If you have questions you can email her at [email protected]

Here's a little about the seed bank (copied from the AHS Region 4 newsletter)

Send Your Extra seeds
for the AHS
International Seed
Bank!
As you are sorting your seeds for
storage, please remember that
this outreach program would love
to receive your extras. Through
the generosity of our North
American AHS members, we are
able to offer seeds of named
crosses to our International
members, friends, garden groups
and anyone else in a foreign
country who may be interested in
growing daylilies from seed.
Again this year, any domestic
daylily, garden or science group is
welcome to request seeds for
their projects. AHS membership
is not required for requesting
seeds, and there is no charge to
the recipients.
Please support this important
outreach program of the AHS!
In sincere appreciation,

Maureen Strong, AHS
International Membership Chair

This is the best thing I've heard of in a long time! I always make more seeds than I can sell or grow, I love sharing the beauty of these plants with others and this is the perfect way to do it! Thank you for this post!! Thumbs up

It helps if you put your crosses on the package. I know that Maureen then packages them to send a variety to the recipient and she will then rewrite the cross. The more you send, the more seeds that an individual gets to plant! And since many cannot send nor receive plants overseas without a lot of work, seeds are the way to spread new hybrid crosses.

Selfs and unknowns are also accepted.

Must clean out fridge from last year! Must clean out. Must.

There's more to put in from this year (still harvesting!)

The EU is considering new laws which would regulate seeds.
How might this affect the Seed Banks?

Caroline - Wondering if you know if EU has passed new regs?

With no room for seedlings here, it's a kick to think of daylilies grown in other countries from your seeds. Hoping not to many more abort in this heatwave.
