We just bought this house and was wondering what type of tree this is? Trying to figure out how large it will get and how much it will spread. Thank you.

Welcome!

Can you take one more photo of a twiglet with leaves? Are the leaves stiff or soft?

My first thought is Desert Willow Tree (Chilopsis) but, if that's it, it should be blooming.

Thanks for the response. Here are some close up of the leafs. They are soft to the touch.

I didn't say that quite right. Are the leaves rigid?

I hate saying what something *isn't* instead of what it *is*. But I don't think it is Chilopsis.

These leaves look glaucus and almost succulent. I would lean toward something like Acacia but ???

Except Acacias have stiff leaves. Back to thinking...

Could it be a type of Willow (Salix species)?

Yes, that's the tree I was thinking of but your leaf descriptions weren't matching the tree's leaves. The leaves sure LOOK like Willow Acacia. You will know when it blooms.

Lin, no one plants willows in the desert. They are too water needy. Smiling

There are many types of Acacia grown in the south west. That was my first thought as CalTrans has used at least 4 different ones for freeway plantings.
