I was given this plant at work today by someone I have only met once and he said he thought I would love it and it was a pineapple lily. I asked what color it bloomed and he said a pineapple and zone 9 then left. So I have looked and can not find anything that resembles this plant? If anyone can help I would be grateful.

Pretty! I'm not real familiar with Pineapple Lily but it does resemble Eucomis (Pineapple Lily), perhaps Pineapple Lily (Eucomis bicolor)

I'm sure someone will recognize that nice plant and be able to offer an exact ID.

Yes it is a variety of Eucomis commonly referred to Pineapple Lily. They are a summer flowering bulb. Not sure which variety you have; I've not seen one with spots on the leaves like that, very interesting looking. I grow several varieties and here in my zone they are not winter hardy so are kept indoors dormant for the cold months. Not sure if they would be hardy for you. They are a lovely flowering plant; that was a nice gift. The bulbs will multiply quite easily. They are a great container plant or can be grown inground. Here is a pic of Sparkling Burgundy a variety I love.
