Hi All
I have a very large Patio so most my plants are in pots including my 3 very large pink Hydrangeas
which I have been growing for 25-30 years.
I wanted some blue Hydrangeas so here's a picture of 5 small cuttings taken from my late uncle's absolutely huge blue Hydrangea back in June last year.

Thumb of 2020-06-20/Tafy/d96f55 June 2019

I nursed them 5 cuttings above by over-wintering them in my glass growhouse
here's what 2 of those above look like today.

the other 3 are just the same size with same size blooms look closely you can just about see them in background of the last picture.
the mother plant is sky blue these are also supposed to be blue but I guess the soil is Not acidic enough for them so I'm putting the Vitax acid additive in their water.....still no sign of blueness yet but I'll continue to add the Vitax colour changer they should start changing colour shortly.
I'll also post some pics of my other Hydrangeas shortly.
cheers

The look very healthy. Enjoy but watch out for windy conditions during the summer as the big blooms could destabilize the potted hydrangeas. We just had 96kph winds last night due to severe thunderstorms and now I have plant and tree debris (foliage and small branches) all over. Some potted tropical trees were "horizontal" this morning. Thanks for sharing.

Taft.. hi and I love that you grow hydrangeas. They are beautiful and so healthy. Hydrangeas are a favorite and have several in my garden.

Keep us posted if they change color to blue. I read that some hydrangeas do not change colors other will according to acid or alkaline soils. I have a new red hydrangea it's just beginning to bud out. So it's a wait and see if it will be red . That's the fun of hydrangeas, what color are we gonna be this month. nodding

Yes I have bamboo sticks and secured them all by tying the main stems so they can't move in the wind.

I forgot to ask, which variety is the one that is producing those big blooms? The only one that I know of that produces such large blooms on this side of the pond is called Big Daddy. It occurred to me that there may be others in the UK/etc.

Big daddy has huge 12" to 16" blooms and a compact growth habit. You have propagated one of the most popular blooms .
There are many others that are competitive to it. Some nurseries have different varieties. Incredible is the largest hydrangea bloom on the market in the US marketed by Proven Winners.

I have many with blue and pink blooms on the same plant they are called old wood hydrageas because they bloom on last years wood. The hortensia hydrageas have the biggest blooms and the biggest bang for you buck.
There are mainly 4 types of hydrageas. So many to choose.

The UK May have it too .

Hi luis
I'm sorry I can't answer that because I honestly don't know......
but yes the blooms are huge and still growing the poms are not nothing like the blue mother plant size wise which I took the cuttings from ? Confused
in fact the poms appear to be getting bigger and bigger every day.......bizarre. Blinking

I will take a photo of the mother plant next time I go to my cousin's home and you'll see what I mean.
as I said I got 3 other Hydrangeas which are 30 years old and they have quite large poms I will also post pics of them when they are in full bloom at the moment their flowers are just small green buds with no colour to them.

Taft Hurray! Look at you pot collection. All the hydrangea seedlings look so healthy, thick and blooms also so gorgeous. Lovey dubby
And what's in the other pots?
That vatax I tip my hat to you.

How old are the seedling now? Do you fertilize? The stems are so straight and strong. Not a tilted head in the group.

Hi bumplbea
Top left corner Rhododendron
Back row are 7 Hydrangeas
middle row are 3 roses 2 hydrangea
front row are 3 roses 1 Oriental Lilies
in amongst all the larger pots are about 27 Fuchsias
swingtime's, blue carmels, blue eyes, baby blue eyes

I use about 30ml Miracle grow in every 7 litres of water for the hydrangeas every 2-4 weeks
I know it sounds strange but those hydrangeas will let you know when they're not happy
their leaves will wilt or droop or change colour so keep them well watered etc

the little fuchsias are now about 12 months old and I'm looking forward to seeing them all in flower

I will post more pictures of them all when they are all in bloom including the big hydrangeas
they should put on quite a should show the older hydrangeas last year had enormous poms
cheers

Your hydrangeas are beautiful. And the fuchias are among my very fav of all the varieties. And so rewarding to grow.

They are eye poppers when they flower. And so are lilies. When all the pot are in bloom you will have a beautiful flower garden.

Your fertilizing program sounds excellent to keep potted flowers happy. I fertilize half stregenth every watering when it's summer.

I just posted all my blooming hydrangeas and several varieties in the 'Hydrangea forum : under heading 'Hydrangeas Show off all your blooms🌟I know you got 'em 😎'

Yes, slowly. Very s l o w l y. I have a lacecap that gets as close to blue as purple only. Hee, hee, hee. Then again, I liked the shade of purple so much that I immediately nixed the idea of acidifying the soil any further to produce blue blooms. Sorry, I have no pictures though. :o(
