$12 is tempting. And they have a long list of varieties. Now I am on to a property shopping to accommodate them.

Thank you for posting.
Thank You!

My short list for ordering. I'm not done looking though. I need something taller, at least 4 feet prefer at least 5 feet. No pink, prefer red, orange, white or silver tones. I'm replacing a nanking cherry bush that up and died on me this spring for no reason and it's in full view of the road and house so need a statement piece. Needs to be easy to grow in a place that rejects most plants, rebloom and good fragrance.

Yep, a crazy wishlist but I have roses here that are thriving so far. Hilarious!

It has been a few years since I ordered from RU, and I don't recall what their shipping rates are (they may have changed since then). I checked each page on their website yesterday (Saturday) and the rates aren't listed anywhere.

RU's shipping:

Scroll to the bottom of the page:

https://rosesunlimitedsc.com/a...

On the main page, there's an "About" link. Shipping is not listed in the dropdown options of the "about", but if you click on "about" itself, it takes you to the page I listed above.

Oh, yes, I forgot Pat has it on a page where you wouldn't expect to find it... on the "About" page!

I can only put roses into existing beds right now. I definitely want the Benjamin Britten and Souvenir de Docteur Jamain. I also have a spot for Traviata or Louis Phillippe but I'd have to make a decision on which! It also depends on shipping. Sometimes it only makes sense to get even numbers.

It's been said before, but I'll say it again. I so wish they would modernize their website for e-commerce, add photos, and clarify their shipping rates. It can get a little confusing if you don't order a full box of six plants, plus there's the additional $5 packing/handling fee per order, plus the additional $5 credit card fee. But still, at $12 per rose you can get some pretty good deals.

So if I got six roses, being in Maryland, it's 12 a rose plus and an addition $6 each shipping, $5 for handling, 5 for CC charges. So $118 altogether! Wow. A lot more than I had intended to spend. I.hope the upcharge isn't too crazy for getting fewer than 6.

My thinking also. Rethinking it now. I have the space but if it's not an existing spot I can't plant there unless a tree. Thinking

I can vouch for Souvenir de Docteur Jamain. It had to be moved and it died back to the ground and pouted for a couple years but is really looking good this year. Make sure to do bright shade in the afternoon. The dark blooms get fried in full sun. Has great fragrance also.

I believe she's now sold out of BB. While extremely confusing her rates do seem to reflect costs to different places. There's a thread on GW that gives examples of costs to each zone. Even with the shipping it is a good buy for hard to find roses if one orders six. The plants are also very nice with large roots from pics I've seen. I rarely write checks, but would to save 5 bucks. Too bad there isn't a flat USPS box rate option.

I guess it does work out to about $18 a rose if you get six.

Shipping to Washington state is too expensive for me or I'm always happy to get some. Sighing!

Last night I ended up emailing them a list of 6 (one not on sale) and an alternate. I hope everything isn't sold out already. I really want Souvenir de Docteur Jamain. I'm on a wait list at RVG and Angel Gardens.

SdJJ
Benjamin Britten
Desdemona (not on sale)
Traviata
Louis Phillippe (decided to make room for both!)
About Face

Alternate: Snow White

I don't know why Snow White is my alternate when I have a place for it and not About Face. I just really want AF! Now I'm wracking my mind trying to squeeze it into an existing bed. It's so big too. Like LP. I should have requested one or the other. Anyway, I'm putting the cart before the horse. Nothing may be available.

The blooms on my About Face don't last long on the bush. However, it's a frequent rebloomer. Does anyone else have this experience?

Their shipping rates are the dumbest I have ever seen. Why does it cost less to ship to a zone 2 than it does to zone 6. I live 266 miles from them. 8 bucks per plant shipping. And if you dont order 6. Theres even more shipping charges. That's a rip off. It doesnt cost more to ship less plants. Packages are shipped by weight and box diameters. And the 5 dollar CC charge is actually illegal. It is against the law to charge more than the actual cost of a card processor in the USA. I will never support this nonsense of a rose nursery.

You're confusing the USDA zones with their freight shipping zones. West Virginia is in freight shipping zone 5, which costs $6.00 per plant.
