Good morning, gardening friends!
I have and thoroughly enjoy my Hardy Hibiscus plants and they always seem to flourish. I have had white flies; and was able to control them. However I have a friend, who asked me about an insect on her bush; and wanted to know (1) if I could accurately identify it; and (2) what she can do to eliminate/control them. Fortunately (or unfortunately --since I cannot advise her) I have never seen this little creature on my plants (Photo attached).
Angie said that she looked the bug up (didn't say where) and thinks that it is either a ragweed leaf beetle or a leaf-rolling weevil. Whether it is or isn't she doesn't know what to do to rid her plant of it (She has picked them off; but...) .
And the plant is one that I gave her seeds, from mine a couple of years ago; so she is treasuring it since she propagated it from the seeds and other that this unwanted visitor; has been doing good. The insect has been eating her plant; and she said she was going to spray it with the home insecticide that I gave her a recipe for a while back; and wanted to know if it will remedy the problem.
I will appreciate your feed back---as I am sure that she will also. Thanks!!
