This morning I came across a commercial site that is using one of my photographs of my Rainbow's End at https://stoutirishpub.com/gard...

I've contacted them to ask them to either remove the photograph or to pay me the rate I've charged other publishers, though I kind of doubt I'll ever hear from them.

Well, if they continue their larcenous ways, they'll never sell a rose to me. I'll remember the "Stout Irish" name and I hope others will too. Good luck in dealing with them, Mike.
Let us know what happens. David

That's become a big problem on the internet. People think they can just use any picture they find online without permission. I hope you're able to settle this.

The funny thing is that it's hardly among the best of hundreds of photos I've taken over the years. You'd think they would have swiped one of the more elegant ones!

It appears that they've credited a few of their sources ... but not yours.

In my experience, rose-sellers who steal photos like that are usually pretty shifty in all of their dealings. I know of one, in particular, who also actually stole mother plants from Sequoia Nursery. I wouldn't buy from them.

It has been many years since I came to terms with the fact that photographs I have taken will appear on the internet and be credited to a news source instead of me. Before the internet I would discover a particularly famous set of my shots in newspapers, magazines, and even a book. In the accompanying text it was sometimes acknowledged that a person, (they never used my name) took the shots but still credited a news corporation underneath them or gave no credit at all. I figure any photo or comment I make on the internet is in the public domain and therefore belongs to the world now. My father, who was a world renown photographic artist and very protective of his work, would be spinning in his grave.

Interestingly I just received a response from them today, stating they would remove the photo.

People are often 'funny.' I took lots of pictures in a wedding. I gave them to the bride. I had my watermark on all the pictures. She used some of the pictures on facebook, removing the watermarks, not mentioning who took the pictures, not thanking me either ---- I thought she could share those pictures, but at least give credit who made the pictures--
