Thread OP
New Castle, Delaware, USA
I am selling my childhood home Sad and obviously can't take my mother's lilac bush with me.
The lilac bush is finished blooming for the season and appears to be producing seed pods that are green. Some of the seed pods have gone brown now and opened, having dropped the seeds out (?).

:: My question :: When are these seeds supposed to be harvested for growing a new Lilac bush? Green or brown?

I have taken some of the brown ones by stripping them into my hand and into a container in hopes that some of what I have contains seeds. I have also snapped off some of the little branches that have the green seed pods on them, hoping they'll dry correctly to release seeds. This is a long shot for me, as I have never done this before. I haven't yet dug up any of the smaller shoots that will very likely produce new bushes.

Any help is appreciated :)

Thank you,
MyFinalAct (because I'm selling the house)

If you can dig up shoots, I would do that. Someone else will have to talk about seeds.
Plant it and they will come.
