I purchased Patricia back in 2016. For 4 years it hasn't done much other than increase fan count.

This year finally a scape.

Today finally a bloom. It will be the one and only for this year.

But I'm not sure this is Patricia. First it was like 12 inches if that....... Definitely not 36 inches. But this is 2020 and stuff is all over the place this year.

So this is what I got.

Hard to tell since there aren't a lot of pictures of it. But it is supposed to be very fragrant. I'd give it a sniff. If you can't smell anything now try again in the evening. I have some daylilies that are more fragrant late in the day. If it isn't fragrant than it probably isn't Patricia.

I guess I'll have to wait another year to find out. This scape literally had 1 bud. A total dud overall....

Quite a few of my scapes have only one bud too. I suspect the drought combined with the early hot & humid weather. I just have to hope next year is better. Crossing Fingers!

I am interested in Patricia. How has it grown and flowered for you since 2020?
Does/did it grow as an evergreen?

I know that it has bloomed each year since then.
I went out and see what it looks like in the ground right now (see picture below).
It is doing well after the exposure it had over the winter ( a little taller then many of the nearby dormants. We had very little snow, several weeks of lows in the 10s/20s and highs in the 20's/30s and when it wasn't cold, we had rain rain rain rain rain!!

Heidi, did you happen to take any pictures of it in bloom since 2020? I'd love to see them if so. Did it get any taller? Very pretty blooms on that one and I hope that you did get the real 'Patricia'!

@mom2cjemma Thank you.

Is there any chance you have noticed whether it is has any fragrance?

The Farr catalogue (Fall 1942/Spring 1943) describes it as "PATRICIA. 2 1/2 ft. July, Aug. Ranked second highest in ballot from 321 varieties. Pastel yellow; pronounced fragrance."

I am pretty sure she is fragrant. She has bloomed each year since 2020. She is not quite 30 inches tall, probably closer to 26-28, but I haven't measured closely and in another location, might do a little better. As she gets a little crowded out.

This is 'Patricia' from a Farr Nursery brochure from 1942/1943 (the Farr company distributed Stout's daylily introductions).
