Hello all,

I have two of these growing and are gifts from the my finch gardener companions I am sure. I have been patiently waiting for it to bloom and that time has come. It looks like a rudbeckia species?? I don't know. Any assistance with ID would be much appreciated. Thank you!

NOTE: Flowers right now are about the size of a quarter.

Thank you so much again. :)
Benny

Its a Black Eyed Susan - Rudbeckia hirta. They are 'planted' all over the desert. Smiling

Hi Daisy,

Thank you. I was leaning towards this being a R. Hirta. But the flowers did not match. Then again, they are just now opening. I have looked at some photos and it does seem to match. As you see these all over in the desert, does that mean they should be drought tolerant? I ask because my specimens will droop if I don't give them water. Should I just let them sit regardless of drooping? Maybe, just a response to the heat?

Thank you so much!

It's a Rudbeckia, but it's not Rubeckia hirta. Rather, it is Browneyed Susan (Rudbeckia triloba)

Hi Kent,

Yes, I think that has to be it. Matches all characteristics exactly! I thank you and Daisy for all your assistance on this. I

Wishing you both and everyone here the very best in all things.
